First ones - Old Title.

This cover was created by me.   The old title of the book was

S3: The Secret Santa Society - but I found the title already existed in a kid's book.  The title later changed.

This cover was a placeholder, just to get me going.  It is crap.

This set of covers also created by me, as I began to wonder about a real cover. (You'll note that they all seem the same, but only the background changes.

Next, I though to have someone create one for me.  Because of my activity on Reddit, I had some "newbie" designers offer to do this for free.

the first is by far the worst.  It gives nothing about the book, the story, the fact that it's urban fantasy - NOTHING.  When I asked the designer about this, she only said "I used a 70's font..."  it actually looks like the cover of a psychology textbook I had in college... in the 70's.

This one is odd, but the only good thing about it is the inclusion of the old man.  My blurb states the main character is 68 and has a long white beard, but he lives in a subdivision, not an urban center.
This next one looks great, but has nothing to do with the story.  I suppose it has it's plusses, but I have no idea what they are.  There is no brick wall, no round portal in the story, and the tower in the back may refer to a large clock tower that is mentioned many times.
(I just learned today - 10/16/2024 - that this is stolen
from a Stone Rebels Album Cover! I'm now twice as
glad I never used this for my cover! )

Again, this one is just bad.  It's like it was made by someone learning photoshop.

This is another made by me, just playing around with shapes and lightning.

This one had promise, but the purple fire just ruined it.  Too much going on at once.

This is the last one I've worked with.  The fonts are all wrong, though I love the model and the look. There are three covers in this as the three book trilogy, but I wish I could get the model in two more poses. That way the 2nd and 3rd cover would be better.
